Frequently Asked Questions
I hear Dino Coffee beans are really delicious. What's the difference between Dino Coffee and supermarket beans?
We carefully select the farmers and importers from whom we purchase our green coffee beans. Only after we have roasted several batches ourselves and are satisfied with the quality of the bean, does it earn a place in our webshop.
Furthermore, supermarket beans are often roasted months ago, meaning many of their unique aromas and flavors have already faded. We roast in small batches, often only after you've placed an order. This ensures our beans are always fresh, with a much richer taste and aroma. You can always find the next roast date at the top of our homepage.
Super delicious and freshly roasted coffee. I'd like some. What does it cost?
To introduce as many people as possible to great coffee, we offer 3 types of coffee beans:
Espresso beans and coffee blends: Accessible coffees with a soft, friendly taste. Here you'll also find our Decaf (decaffeinated coffee beans)
Specialty Coffee: Our best value for money choice. Carefully selected beans with a distinct, unique taste.
Limited Editions: Unique and exclusive microlots. For those moments when you really have something to celebrate.
If you want to stick to your budget, always choose a large 1 KG bag. It has a 10% lower price per kg compared to the smaller bags.
What do you mean by 'Specialty Coffee Beans'?
All coffee beans you can order from us fall under the category of Specialty Coffee. For our 'Specialty coffee beans' selection, we only purchase high-end specialty coffee with a score of 85 points or higher (SCA score). This means our beans are free of defects and have a complex flavor profile – think notes of chocolate, fruit, or nuts. Naturally, these beans are also organically grown and traded according to FairTrade principles.
I don't have a grinder. Do you sell ground coffee?
No, this is a conscious choice. The absolute best for flavor is to grind the coffee beans just before brewing. That's why we've chosen to offer all our coffee varieties only as whole beans. If you don't have a grinder at home yet, I can highly recommend the following: Hario Skerton, Baratza Encore ESP Pro, Commandante C40, Lagom Casa.
Do I have to be home for delivery? Does it fit through the letterbox?
Yes, we package the coffee in letterbox-sized boxes as much as possible. So you don't have to be home for delivery. Please note: for orders of 500g or more, we will need to pack your coffee in a box and send it as a standard package.
How long do the coffee beans stay fresh?
Freshly roasted coffee stays good for up to 12 months. To enjoy the best taste, we recommend letting the coffee rest for at least 5 days after the roast date so it can develop its optimal flavor. From that moment up to 4 months after roasting, the coffee is extremely delicious.
How quickly will my order be delivered?
We roast on average twice a month. So please allow for a longer delivery time. Usually, you will receive your order within 10 working days. Due to the recent busyness in our webshop, it can sometimes take a little longer. Rest assured, your order will be prepared with the utmost care and attention. Check our homepage for our next roast date.
I want coffee beans today, is that possible?
Absolutely! At the organic supermarket Oogst on Hogewoerd in Leiden, you can visit daily and always find a selection of our coffee beans. Opposite there, you'll find Roka, where you can order a cup of Dino Coffee.
What if I'm not satisfied?
We stand behind our coffee. Not satisfied? Contact us – we always find a suitable solution.
