This is a special bean for us. It's our first washed Kenyan bean! Compared to Ethiopian beans, Kenyan beans are much larger and grow much less tall. It's also unique that Kenyan beans are graded based on size and uniformity. The largest and most uniform beans are labeled "AA," while these Kiandu AB beans are slightly smaller and less uniform. However, this doesn't necessarily mean they taste any worse than an AA variety.
This Kiandu AB tastes like a classic washed Kenya, without the dreaded (or beloved) tomato notes. However, the Kiandu AB is very berry-like. We tasted mostly red and blueberries, with a smooth dark chocolate aftertaste.
